I’d rather you break my bones
instead of my heart
because bones are easier to fix.
With x-rays you can identify the problem,
with casts you can help it heal
and with painkillers you can numb the pain,
but the only solution for a broken heart
is, unfortunately, time.

Hugs
She’s always hugging people
because she knows better than anyone
that sometimes people just need to be
physically held together
to stop them from emotionally falling apart.
Break of Dawn
And even after
you had chased away the moon
and stolen all the stars,
leaving an empty, inky sky,
you will never be able to stop
the sun from meeting me;
for the blackest nights,
robbed of all light,
give way to the break of dawn.
Always.
Heart of Fire
When you hit me,
words bloomed beneath my skin
instead of bruises.
When your words cut me,
I bled poetry
instead of blood and tears.
When your anger was a storm,
I didn’t fear the rain
I just learned to appreciate the sun more.
When your presence brought darkness,
I learned to make my own light
by feeding my heart of fire.
Defence Mechanism
I feel like anger is a defence mechanism for people who can’t cope with the hurt they’re keeping in inside.
And it’s somehow emotionally easier to be angry than upset.
Stars
Don’t forget that the clouds don’t own the sky;
Just because you can’t see the stars,
doesn’t mean that they’re not there.
#13
Honey,
no one can truly love you
until you do.
Heart
“I don’t have a heart,” she whispered.
“You do,” he said as he tucked her in his embrace.
“It’s just become a part of everyone you’ve ever loved. The problem you are facing now is not a lack of your heart, but a lack of love for yourself…”
Her Light
There used to be a light in her eyes,
and a fire in her heart,
but it no longer shines as bright.
And he’s afraid that it’ll go out,
Forever.
Honest
I wish we could be honest with each other,
but being honest has only ever started arguments.
Is it wrong for me to want to keep the peace between us?
