I am an acquired taste.

Apathy

It’s difficult to be loving and forgiving when you’ve been surrounded and moulded by hate and violence your entire life.

It has defined me but I only resort to violence when absolutely necessary. That being said, compassion and empathy had not been built into my system.

This is the compromise; I am not overly violent but I am completely apathetic.

Cracks

Some wounds run so deep
they develop hedious scars
that can’t be seen by the naked eye.

And some cuts are so clean
they heal so nicely
that they can only be seen
if you look closely.

However,
people would rather see
what they want to see
and thus will ignore the cracks
until they can no longer convince themselves
that it is not broken.

The Bird and the Balloon

To the bird,
In her cage with nowhere to go
Where her wings grow weak
From lack of use,
The balloon is free
In envy, she looks
at the balloon that could go anywhere
if he so wishes to do so

But to the balloon,
In the world unknown
Where he travels without knowing
So he travels aimlessly, with no direction,
The bird is at home
In envy, he looks
at the bird that is safe and cared for
and doesn’t need to search for where she belongs
